HOW MUCH DOES ALUMINUM FENCING COST?
One of the first questions homeowners voice is HOW MUCH DOES ALUMINUM FENCING COST? So I will address the cost of aluminum fencing along with the different styles, colors, and spacing in determining costs.
ALUMINUM FENCING COST – STYLES
Four main styles to choose from in order of popularity, the press points above, smooth bar top, points under bar, alternating points above.
ALUMINUM FENCING COST – COLORS
Black, bronze, white, hunter green, and custom colors available. The most popular color is black ( and we keep lots of black parts in stock for repairs. Repairs being lawnmowers, golf carts, bicycles, trees, cars….you name it.
ALUMINUM FENCING COST – HEIGHTS
Aluminum fencing will come in all heights from 3′ to 8′ with the most common being 4′ and then 5′. We don’t recommend aluminum fencing taller than 5′ for aesthetics, however sometimes the need arises when security is an issue.
ALUMINUM FENCING COST – GATES
Gates are my favorite part of the fence project. As a product of function, aluminum makes for a great long lasting gate. These gates can be 3′ to 6′ wide, be flat across the top, arch across the top and scoop across the top. I always like to spice up the main fence entrance with a decorative arched point of entry focus gate. This add a little flair to the fence and also establishes the preferred direction of foot traffic.
A secondary gate is normally a lawn/landscapers gate 5′ wide. I recommend a removable ACCESS PANEL for infrequent vehicle passage. A double panel car gate is recommended for frequent use, these gates are flat, arched, or an estate gate.
ALUMINUM FENCING COST – ACCESSORIES
These are the little accent points that can really add up even to the point of doubling the cost of a fence! Some fence companies are offering a cheap alternative, and I mean CHEAP alternative of plastic finials for the cast aluminum finials. Cost for these look alike finials are less than 30 cents compare to the cost of $3.00 plus for powder coated cast aluminum finials. Why is that bad? In about 1-2 years you will begin seeing the difference in the plastic finials and metal fencing. Black plastic will not hold up well to the sun UV rays, easy to break off and will begin fading out. The fence still looks great, so now you are back to FIXING the finial issue. If you start with the correct cast aluminum powder coated finials you will not have this problem. Beware of any fence company that does not SPECIFY on YOUR CONTRACT CAST ALUMINUM FINIALS! Plastic finials is a cost cutting move, if cutting corners here watch for other problems with the fence. Remember, an aluminum fence is not cheap, but is an investment in your home and will return about 65% of the original investment when you go to sell your home 10 years later.
Picket finials, round decorative post toppers, deck mounts, wall mounts and additional trim pieces.
SUMMARY – ALUMINUM FENCING COST
With all of these available options I have to give a range for the aluminum fence cost. Assuming 225′ fence, 2 gates (1 – 4′ wide and 1 – 5′ wide the installed cost of fencing will range from $4,650.00 to $8,850.00 with the majority of the fencing jobs ranging between $5,700.00 to $7,500.00.
