TERMITES in CEDAR FENCING

YES KNOXVILLE MARYVILLE WE HAVE TERMITES!!!

East Tennessee is in the TERMITE BELT! A geographic area with ideal temperate conditions for the exponential growth of termites.  Termites are natures clean up crew for dead and decaying wood fibers.  Termites do not distinguish between wood fencing and downed trees in the forest, it’s all fair game to them.

Termites Attack all Outside Wood

Yes, that’s right! Why do termites attack wood?  Wood fibers (cellulose) is the termites food source.  Worker termites will eat 24 hours a day seven days a week for two years. The queen is producing more worker termites. A colony will contain from 1 million to 2 million termites.

Termites Attack Treated Lumber

Yes! Termites are indiscriminate. Termites eat cellulose (wood fibers). What happens when termites eat fence lumber that is TREATED FOR TERMITES? Termites actually ingest the wood fibers so when they eat the treated for termite lumber they ingest the insecticide which kills them.
