Wood Fence Installation in Knoxville, TN

Knoxville's Favorite Fence, Built to Last

Wood fence installation is still the most popular job we do, and it has been since 1981. Wood gives you full privacy, it costs less up front than vinyl or aluminum, and there is no limit to what you can do with the design.
We build wood fence board by board on your property. Nothing is dropped in as a pre-made panel unless you ask for it.

Cedar or Pressure-Treated Pine?

This is the first choice in any wood fence installation, and it moves the price more than anything else.
Western red cedar resists rot and insects on its own, with no chemicals. It starts warm red-brown and fades to soft gray. It stays straighter over time and it looks better. It costs more.
Pressure-treated pine is treated to fight rot and termites. It costs less per board and it is strong. It is more likely to twist as it dries, so it wants stain sooner.
Both last 15 to 20 years in East Tennessee when built right and sealed.

Built for our soil: Knoxville's dense red clay shifts with freeze-thaw cycles. We set every post below the frost line in high-PSI concrete so your fence stays straight and your gates keep closing smoothly for years.

What Does a Wood Fence Cost in Knoxville?

Most installed wood fences in the Knoxville area run $19–$42 per linear foot, depending on height, style, wood type, terrain and gates. A typical backyard privacy fence lands in the middle of that range. The only way to get an exact number is a free on-site measure. We give you a firm written quote with no surprises.

HELPFUL ANSWERS

Wood fence questions.

Which wood should I choose?

Ask the estimator to compare the species currently available, their appearance, treatment, and maintenance needs. Compare the same height, gate layout, and scope across options.

Will a wood fence give me complete privacy?

A solid layout gives much more screening than open pickets. Ask how board spacing and natural shrinkage may change the view through the fence over time.

When should a new fence be stained?

The wood must be ready for the finish you choose. Follow the stain manufacturer’s preparation and moisture guidance; a fixed number of days is not right for every season or product.

Are wood gates covered the same way as vinyl gates?

No. Bryant’s published warranty treats natural wood and wood gates differently from vinyl and aluminum. Read the warranty page and confirm the terms that apply to your quote.
